Settlements of Niladyr resemble fortresses with the capital spanning many miles of thick walls, guard towers and barracks. This is as much to keep the native Tasaer in as to keep enemies out. The Tasaer are extremely reclusive, and they have only minimal contact with other races. Few foreigners have seen the land that lies on the inside of the high walls.
Tasaer society is oppressive in the extreme and highly religious. Centuries of oppression have fostered a race that is suspicious, servile and xenophobic. However, little known to the other races, the Tasaer have the largest and most highly drilled army of all the nations, and if they were ever to look beyond their own borders, they might realize how easily they could conquer the other lands.

Lore Excerpt: 'Lian felt himself being pushed further and further back. Everyone was frantic to get to the front, hoping to catch some glimpse of the great Leader as the procession passed. Desperately he kicked the heel of the woman standing in front of him, and as she fell to the ground he stepped over her. But there were still too many people in the way. Lian saw that he was now standing behind a grotesquely fat man, who blocked his sight completely. People crowded all around, so it was impossible to move to the left or right. Frustration boiled up within him. He could hear the in-step marching of the Palace Guard as they approached. They couldn’t be more than a few hundred yards away now. Their boots made a distinct Tock-Tock-Tock sound on the paved stones. Lian would have to do something fast if he were to get to the front of the crowd...'
