T H E E I L O L

Gurth was once covered in lush jungle. However, the pure Aelor and Kyr essence continuously pouring in to it from portals to the realms of Aeloria and Kyris have gradually changed it in to something quite different. Trees are twisted and bent strangely, and animals have been similarly warped. Plants are unnaturally coloured and often covered in lethally poisonous spikes. The entire landscape has an alien feel, very different from any other part of Taos.
The entire island is shrouded in fog, with only the lifelss mountains reaching above it, in sharp contrast to the teaming life of the lowlands.
Gurth was once home to the Eilol. Perhaps the most sophisticated of all the races, the Eilol created technological wonders of which the other races could not even dream. The Eilol's obsession with "balance" gradually led them in to war with the Orcs of Vrudak however, a war which eventually ended with the near complete annihilation of the Eilol race.

Lore Excerpt: 'Aliar felt tears begin to form as the funeral pyre was lit. Only the final stage of the ceremony remained. He had looked on Gelian’s face for the last time, and now all that was left was for the spirit to be freed from its mortal remains. All around, he could see grief and pain on the faces of his kin. Slowly, the chant rose, more and more joining in with the words that would direct Gelian’s spirit to the next plane of existence. Aliar found it nearly impossible to form the words, unwilling or unable to say the final farewell. Tears streamed down his cheeks. Suddenly he felt as if he had been kicked in the stomach, and fell to his knees, winded. Standing up again, and looking around, he saw that his kinsmen had been similarly affected. Some still lay on the ground, groaning...'
