T H E S A T Y R

Arae is, by any measure, a paradise island. The island is cloaked with one big forest, the sun shines ever brightly in the sky, and the beaches are of soft white sand. The forests of Arae are filled with a diversity of wildlife.
Practically every living thing on the island has been enhanced in some way by the Satyr, the island's native race, to make it more useful, fertile or beautiful. The goat-legged Satyr have grown to be masters of the mystical art of channeling, a power they use to reshape the living things of the island into whatever shape they please.
The Satyr believe in a Mother Godess which is the island itself, and there is some strange connection between the forest and the Satyr....

Lore Excerpt: 'Naiyeen stood absolutely still, holding his breath, waiting for the deer to turn away. Even at a distance of fifteen feet he thought he could hear its heart beat. It was alert, wary. It must have realised something was wrong. He almost felt like he could hear its thoughts. Then it looked up, suddenly aware of him. For a moment their eyes locked. Naiyeen realised that he had waited too long – the winds had turned. Damning himself for his slowness, he pounced, and the deer sprang, looping out of the way a second before he could land on its back. The deer ran for its life, and Naiyeen sprang after, caught up entirely in the rush and excitement of the chase. For each instant that passed, he was closer. Seven feet, six feet, five, four, three. He would have to end this soon, before his legs tired and it got away...'
